Celery on 440LX

I was asked what upgrades could be made to a system running a P2-266 system. It has 64MB RAM and I assume that it is a 440LX chipset. I know that that chipset can only run 66 Mhz FSB, and I was wondering if the Celeron could be a possible solution? He is the owner of a very small business, and cannot afford a new system, and was wondering if there is any relitevly cheap way to extend the life of his PC.

Thanks, Ulysses

This has been covered here before, and there is a great article in the how-to section of Tom's Page, but to sum up you can upgrade your 440-LX based motherboard to a Celeron 533 by using a Slocket adapter. That's what I did with my old Asus P2L97 P2/266. To be honest, however, I noticed more of a difference when I upgraded from 64mb to 128mb. But take a look at the 'how-to' article. It fit my situation at the time, maybe it will do the same for you!

Thanks, that should help. Now, if I could only ask for a Celeron without hell freezing over.
