Nfs most wanted is copied not installed

Hello,
I had simply copied nfs most wanted onto my hard drive and it runs perfectly fine. I mean I did not install it or anything, so obviously it doesn't show in the Program Files folder. When I download the ferrari mod to be able to add more cars to the game and click on the install icon it gives this error - "An installation of NFS Most Wanted was not detected on your computer. Setup can not proceed." Any idea how I could solve this issue? Thanks in advance..

Where did you copy it from? The original installation disc, I hope?
