Installed sims 3 now sims 2 wont start anymore

Hi. First of all i have to summarize for you that i bought this laptop 6 months ago (aug. 2010), its a brand new acer windows 7, i installed sims 2 + sims 2 best of business, both of them worked great! few months later i installed sims 3 + sims 3 high-end loft, these were also working great and i could play both sims 2 and sims 3 without any problems, until sims 3 ambitions were installed...

I've been playing sims 3 ambitions approximately for 2 months now and when im going to play any of my sims 2 games it wont start anymore and i get this well-knowned message: "Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system!Please make sure you have a direct X9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer. The application will now terminate."

I dont know if the sims 3 ambitions had something in its installation that will make my sims 2 games "paralyzed" or something..

Can someone please help me, or maybe im just blinded by stupidity?
