I have a question which I am sure most people reading these postings can answer. I am new to building a PC from scratch so if you can help me please keep it simple.

I have a PIII 650 Coppermine Slot 1 CPU that requires a 1.65v power supply. I also have a TI6NB motherboard that, at least in the manual can supply 1.8v as its minimum. The company I purchased it from say the board can support the CPU I have? If this is the case and the manual is wrong then I assume that when I power it up everything will be OK and I will be able to select the appropriate settings in the BIOS. My question is that if I power it up and it can only supply 1.8 - 3.5v will it fry the CPU or just fail to start without doing any damage.

Any help would be appreciated as I am reluctant to take their word that it will be OK only to fry the CPU.

Many thanks.
