Hey guys I'm having trouble with fps in call of duty 4 Modern Warfare.

I have an Asus G50VT-X1 gaming laptop.

It has a Intel Core 2Duo @ 2.26GHz
4.00GB Memory
Nvidia GeForce 9800M GS with 512 MB dedicated memory.

About a week ago I was playing CoD4 on all high graphics and having 100+ FPS. But not when I play CoD I'm getting about 40FPS. I don't know what I've done, or why it's doing this.

if you are getting 40FPS all the time why bother. becosue to the human eye , it cant differentiate the 40FPS with 100FPS. it can how ever see the diff between 20 FPS and 30FPS. so if you are getting a steady 40FPS all the time you are good to go.

What bothers me is the fact that it has dropped so greatly.
And It's not completely steady at 40.
Also, it may not be noticeable to the human eye, but it really affects performance. Sniping is much easier at 100 fps, instead of 30-50.

hold on. are you playing the single missions or is this all about multiplayer. if it is for the later then you deffinitly have to check for viruses and anyother things that may run parally with the game for network + system hogs.

In general multi-player... But I've tried the same thing in single player. It ran so well (125 fps consistent) about a week ago and now it's just plain awful. I'm not sure what I've done, because I don't think I've changed anything at all.
Also, even if I'm running at consistant 60 fps, theres this little lag thing that happens every few seconds. It feels like lag, but it happens single player too, so I don't know what it is.

Should I reinstall W7?
