Phenom ii family performance for gaming!!

Hi All again

I am upgrading to phenom family soon(for short period of time as bulldozer is about to come)

My only question is among below given cpu's which one is better for gaming?? Please put them in order....thanks

Phenom ii x4 965, 970, 975

Phenom ii x6 1090t & 1100t

For Gaming only.

(Pls do not recomment intel)

From there, the best you should probably get would be the 965. IMHO, the price difference between the higher model and the 965 wouldn't be worth the additional fps you'd get.

Very few if any games use 4 cores, let alone 6. The X6 would usually be slower for games due to its lower clock speed, compared to the X4's.

Agreed, the 965 is probably the pick of the bunch for gaming. If you do a lot of multitasking and multimedia work, the X6 would be a worthwhile investment.

i just need it for smooth gaming.....even my current cpu is good enough but i want something more...

so do you have any idea how much difference is there in 965 and athlon2 635 ??

There is a difference in performance between the two, I'd only recommend the 635 if you're really strapped for cash.

i thought anyone can view members config....here,,,but still if u cant then here are my current specs:-

Athlon ii x4 635 2.9Ghz
2GB Ram Kingston DDR-2 800MHZ
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5770 DR5 1GB
M68M-SP2
Monitor:- 17" Samsung Syncmaster 753s

You probably won't see a huge increase in frame rates, since your CPU likely isn't bottlenecking your GPU. I would buy an extra 2GB RAM and wait for Bulldozer to hit the market.

i saw anandtech benchmark comparison with my current cpu and saw almost 10-20fps diff......what do you say those statistics arent correct?

You have to remember that use different hardware when performing these tests. They probably benched with a significantly more powerful GPU, or made the test completely CPU dependant by using on-board graphics. You will see a difference, but I doubt it will be 20fps.

I think this heatsink is just obnoxious and rude, and wasn't taught proper manors from its parents so it's not entirely all his fault for being noisy.

Lol, the bulldozer is a fail. If you're willing to spend that much money go for the 2500k!
