Forcing widescreen resolution in older game

I just bought a new gaming laptop with Windows 7. I wanted to play Combat mission Barbarossa to Berlin. The problem is it only suppports 4:3 resolutions. My question is, is there any way to force the game to tun in 1600x900? I remember doing it by right clicking on the exe, and adding something in the target line but i dont remember how. any help would be aprreciated.

Some older games simply do not support widescreen, but will still be playable.
