Low FPS when filming!

Hi guys!
I'm just wondering if anyone can help me out here.
I play a lot of mw2, and everything runs smooth. But whenever i try to record, (using Xfire) my FPS drop, and i start to lag. I have tried a lot of things, disabling Vsync, turning down the graphics etc.
A lot of my friends films too, and none of them have experienced lag.

my processor is a Q9550@2.83 Ghz, and my video card is Powercolor Radeon HD5850.

Any help would be appreciated!

Have you checked the simple things, like having fraps set to record at 30 fps? That is its default setting, and it lower your in game frame rate to match the recording rate.

Newer versions of fraps have an option to not lock the framerate in this manner, but I have typically found that feature to be rather buggy.
