G-D, I hate these AMI bios....

I have a SuperMicro board (P5MMA98)that uses AMI bios. I am trying to flash the bios in hopes of it allowing me to unblock the higher multipliers that are available.

I moved the jumper to allow me to flash (this board uses a jumper) and ran SMBFlash. It tries to flash and there is floppy disk activity. The screen says it is reading the disk and to please wait. I watched that stupid flashing "PLEASE WAIT" message for 1 hour and 17 minutes before I gave up and hit the reset button. I lucked out in that the bios did not flash and I was able to boot with the old bios (A981062 7/25/1995). I renamed the ROM to SUPER.ROM and tried using the emergency flash method of holding CTRL + HOME during boot. I would get 7 beeps (CPU interrupt encountered) It still won't flash.

Am I doing something wrong? I downloaded the updated BIOS from SuperMicro's website.

Thanks guys.

Which jumper? Not the reset CMOS jumper? Is it a jumper that enables the EPROM function on your mainboard?
Your running the flash utility from a DOS environment?
