Need help fixing errors in my downloads folder for sims2 for pc

after installing custom content into my sims2 download folder my game failed to launch,so i went back and took everything from that date out of the game useing sims2pack clean installer but game still wont launch it gets to reticulating graduated splines then freezes there.i have university expantion pk. all though the pack installer dont show any of the things left form that date in put them in there.i noticed that theres application exte.files are they supposed to be there? also theres simpe application file ,and simpe file folder,are they suppose to be there? the rest are pack files.can you help me with this pease thanks

Try to reinstall it.
The custom content itself might be broken...
