I am trying to connect to my HD tv from my Imac 5. I mac 5 does not have any type of connection other than the usb ports. I do have a router connected. Is there any way to connect?

Solution
You are going into a new world that requires hardware and more expenses. Let's keep things simple for now.

crawl, walk, run etc.

It does have the video out port and it looks like the example yoou mentioned.
The TV is new and has all kinds of ports, usd, hdmi, etc.

That is a mini-VGA output, so you need a mini-VGA to something cable. The "something" depends upon exactly what connectors you have on the TV. If it has a VGA socket (many do) then something like http://www.dealextreme.com/p/mini-vga-to-vga-cable-white-10104 should do the job (but note that this is video ony, not audio). TBH, if I were you I would go to a computer shop (ideally an Apple Store) and ask them what you need. Tell them the exact model number of your Mac and take the manual for your TV so that they can see what inputs it has.
