How to check if my laptop is in a good condition

I've had this laptop for more than a year and I saw the difference in speed when it comes to games I used to play before and the same games I still play now. It overheats faster than before, (before, it doesn't go to the point where its hot and laggy) well, now it does for some reason and i don't know why.

Here are my specs-

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600)
Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
System Manufacturer: Gateway
System Model: NV52 Series
Processor: AMD Turion(tm) X2 Dual-Core Mobile RM-72 (2 CPUs), ~2.1GHz
Memory: 3072MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 2814MB RAM
Page File: 1620MB used, 4006MB available
Windows Dir: C:\Windows
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
Any other info needed, just ask me.

What's the RAM for anyway? The RAM is originally 4gb but I let someone borrow my 2gb for 1gb so now its 3gb.

  1. Well, your RAM won't be running in dual channel which will slow it down, and it sounds like it needs a clean out.

find where your fans vent and blow in as hard as you can. There will be a massive cloud of dust come out and hopefully it will help unblock the heatsinks. You can also try hoovering where the fans are.
