I have recently read about a new Athlon MOBO chipset to be released by NVIDIA!!! The Register

http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/archive/14816.html

has some very skechy info, as does rolotech

http://www.rolotech.com/previews/NVIDIA_Crush/Crush.htm

I want to know if anyone knows anything about this chipset, or if anyone comes across any sites with some good information. I am sure most power users reading Tom's Hardware will be interested in any information on this NVIDIA powered Athlon chipset!!!

Nvidia's super secret Crush chipset will be officially announced later this month - or at the beginning of December [2000].

Microsoft is probably introducing a new OS to go with it for its release date.

HAHAHA!

Yes, I heard it will be called Windows "Ambience". It's supposed to be 48% FASTER than Windows "XP" while improving your internet experience. It will be the FIRST Windows platform to NOT support non-intel chipsets (including DDR) right out of the gate rather than say having to wait around 6 months to find out that your non-intel chipset will NOT be supported in Windows Ambience SP1 ;-)

They had to delay introduction when they found out that it would NOT support the Geforce series of video cards. It only supported the ATI's, a few SIS's, and most of the Tridents, 3DFX, S3, and Intel graphics chips. It would output nothing but verticle stripes with the nVidia cards, except in safe mode. The funny thing is that this was the LAST card they tested it with, because they kind of assumed that everybody ELSES cards would have the problems!

Is this a joke or is it <i>real?</i>

Sounds like a joke to me, I question the performance and stability of the chip Nvidia can make a good "gpu" but can they make a mobo chipset? We will have to wait and see.

But dang man you can't expect me to wait forever I already gave up and built a Pentium 3! Seriously, they MUST have hit a snag somewhere wouldn't you think?
