More about unsupported application windows
  1. You may be able to run it in XP compatibility mode. But even XP could not run many older 16-bit applications; those were run under the dos-based Windows (95-ME).
  2. This is what treefrog07 is suggesting, in case you didn't know - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/windows-xp-mode

It's only available if you have Windows 7 Pro. You can get it at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/default.aspx

  3. If everything else fails you could try and run the 16bit application in a virtual machine.
  4. Windows 7x64 will not run 16bit applications, you need to be running windows 7 x86 (32bit) to run 16 bit applications.

Windows runs 16bit applications using wow.exe emulator (same as wow32.exe for 32bit applications in windows x64) but there is no support for wow.exe in x64.

Bets advice given, install virtual pc and run Xp with 16bit application.

    What is the application?
  5. Download a program called Dosbox.
