My motherboard is a ABIT BX6 VER2 and I was wondering how fast a cpu I an get. Do any p3:s use slot1? I have a celeron 333@416 now, and was hoping to be able to upgrade to a p3.

thx.

According to Abit's web site, if you flash to the newest BIOS (QR, according to their site), you should be able to get a PIII 700 MHz (100 MHz FSB). I think you can still get a Slot 1 PIII 700, but it might be slightly more expensive than the FCPGA version.
You can find all of the info and the BIOS on Abit's site at www.abit.com.tw

I have the same board and am running a Slot 1 800 PIII (100 fsb). No BIOS change. Use the softmenue user defined as you have been. I was able to bump it to 995 with no problem. I have PC100 memory st CAS2. I can go higher if I chage to CAS3 but don't need it yet. Core voltage is 1.65 to 1.7V according to Intel and that's where I set it. I have been running for 2 months this way with nary a problem. I had bought a Boxed Pent. and am using the stock fan, Case open and I have a small desk fan that aids in cooling it and the gforce gts. Temp stays below 100 F.

Good luck
