Asus A7V

I have recently setup an Asus A7V with an Asus V7700 Deluxe. Very nice setup with a Duron 700mhz. Unfortunately it won't boot (and never has). The monitor simply won't turn on when I turn the computer on. My old PCI graphics card works however. Tried BIOS revision 1005c to no avail...no problem with graphics card, tried it on friends PC (with K7 MB). Have tried setting display driver to PCI VGA...no luck....any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check several times to make sure the card is set properly in the AGP slot. Then, see if you can get some other AGP graphics card and put it on your A7V. If it doesn't work, then its your AGP slot and you need to have your board replaced. If a different card works and your card works in another computer, then you card is not seated on your board or in your AGP slot properly.

You might have an inadequate power supply. Check the specs on the top of the unit. www.geforcefaq.com recommends a power supply that can provide at least 20 amps on the +3.3 volt line. (The requirement is probably less for a Geforce 2 GTS). However, with no video, inadeqate power is very likely. Asus' own site mentions power issues with the AGP-V7700.

Read about power supplies at www.anandtech.com. The article is a bit dated but the general information is very useful.

also make sure your ram is seated well, take it out and re-seat it.

I had a similar prob when building a similar sys and it turns out that the ram was seated properly.
