A7V - Athlon 900 Tbird - Can u figure it out?

Heres one for you technical geniuses out there!

Here are the symptoms - can you suggest a cause & solution.

-All compression, jpg DVD etc are corrupted
-Right audio channel has crackeling added into it

Ruled out:

- Sound card works fine in other machines incl one with same m/board
- Reinstalled software and o/s so not software/driver problem as problem was not present when system first installed
- Same reslults with identical A7V m/board
- Problem disapears when athlon 900 was swapped for a 1Ghz athlon
- problem occurs in similar sytem with the 900 chip
- problem seems to be with cpu
- guy at AMD says chip cant malfunction in that way and suggests a incompatability problem between chip and m/board

Theres the facts - can you suggest anything?

Andy I have the same AMD 900 and mother board. I have had nothing but problems since I have had it. Good Luck!

That is so strange... I agree with AMD that it's not the cpu making that stuff happen. I take it you have done a format and clean install correct? If not try that...

Your CPU should work fine in an A7V... Of course i can't talk, i have a 1.1ghz tbird in my A7V and it's just recently killed itself, i am losing more and more faith in this company... My suggestion is talk to Asus about motherboard incompatibility issues and see if they think that could be your problem. Probably is knowing Asus..... which is sad to say coz i used to like em...
