You've gotta be kidding. Unless you go to a bank or government office
(such as the post office), you would never know it was a holiday. Public
schools are open, stock market is open, it's a work day for essentially
all private businesses. (At least that is how it is in the SF Bay area.)

Columbus Day seems to be celebrated more in the northeast. I don't know
why.

Include COURTS being closed today. But this is not a Verizon Holiday.
