It's happened a couple of times now with USB devices (digital camera & scanner). I install the devices and they work fine. When I reboot, Windows 98 starts and runs through the startup folder. Then I get multiple blue screens, and I have to reboot, and it starts all over again.

I traced the problem to a program called Stimon.exe in the windows/system folder. It has an icon of a camera. The only way I can fix the problem (so I can actually use the computer) is to rename (or delete) that stimon.exe program and reboot.

I have an AMD 1.1ghz, Asus a7v, 256mb ram, geforce 2 ultra. Is there any other way to solve the problem other than that way?

All things must surely have to end...

is the program loaded in your autoexec.bat? if it is you can alter it to not launch automatically when you boot

I'm not dumb. Neither am I stupid. I'm just not that smart
