Sound settings on ACER with Windows 7

Hello,

I have an ACER Inspiron 7741G. The sound has gone very echoey. Impossible to listen to it. I think this may have happened after I tried to plug in some external speakers. How can I set it back to normal? I have been messing about with it for hours - am going mad !!!!!

I am assuming you have HD sound, go to Control Panel, HD sound manager, under the speaker tab, look at Sound Effects and reset to "None", that should do it
