If you compare a DL380 G4 with the following configurations all
configured as 5+1 RAID5

1. Onboard Smart array 6i controller with 6 x 146GB 15K drives

2. Smart Array 6402 array controller with 6 x 146GB 15K drives

3. Smart Array 6402 array controller with 6 x 146GB 15K drives and a
PCI-X Riser card

I assume option 3 will be the fastest, followed by 2 and then 1.

Question is how much faster? Are options 2 and 3 worth the additional
hardware costs? What kind of % Read and write performance can I expect
for the better options (5%, 10%, 20%, ......??)

I have no specifics on the application - it may be exchange, sql, file
server, IIS, etc.... on Server 2003.

Any ideas?
