Hi Guys , I am going for a new Dual procesor board. Which would be better for performance ?
Was wondering should I go for a RAID board like the Abit VP6 first and later on add SCSI card or go for an on-board SCSI controller like the Asus CUV4X-DLS and later on go for the RAID card. cos I dont wanna give an arm and a leg for performance.

I'm in the habit of getting SCSI cards separate from the motherboard...

A RAID0 of two IBM 7200RPM ATA66/100 hard drives would probably be faster than a single SCSI hard drive, even a Cheetah X15. If you plan to go with a RAID of more than two drives, you might want to go with SCSI RAID, or you might try an Escalade 4-channel IDE RAID card. IDE RAID gets much better performance with only one drive per channel.

Form what I’ve seen over at storagereview.com IDE RAID is a waist of time and money. Not only, in some cases, does performance suffer from RAID in some cases, but barley even increase in other. It’s a pretty good article.

I was thinking about given up my SCSI for the cheaper IDE RAID. Good thing I read that article. It really changed my opinion on what I thought RAID could do.
