In "tuning" my settings, I have somehow turned back on the dreaded "sign on to windows password request". I turned this thing off months ago, as I am the only one using this computer at home. Unfortunately, it's baaack and I can't remember how I turned it off to begin with....embarrassing!

Everytime I boot up, the password request jumps up and stops everything. It used to boot straight to the desktop and that's what I'd like to get back to. Anybody know how to return me to my "pre tuning" state of grace?

Dumb........I know.

Thanks!

Go to start, settings, control panel
Go to user accounts
Click "change the way users log on or off"
Check "use welcome screen"

You should be good to go

Out of curiosity, what kind of "tuning" did you perform?

Check your user accounts and make sure ASP.net isn't in the list. If it is, delete the account and it's files.

You can also go to the run command and type:
"control userpasswords2" (without quotes) click ok and uncheck the box that asks users to enter username and password.
But im sure you have it fixed allready.
