Replying to my own post, since no one else did. Maybe someone else
will need this someday and will be able to find it on google.
VX6000's AIM app (at this time) is a free download. There is no charge,
one-time, or subscription.
You do need a text plan (or be willing to pay as you go).

Just saw your post. Haven't checked this a few days as I was out of
town over the weekend. There are a few AIM programs on the Get-It-Now.
The one I use has AOL, MSN, and Yahoo on it. Makes life easier that
way. As you said the program is free to download and install, but I
would recommend a text plan if you are going to use it a lot. I pay
for 500 messages a month and usually use about 300 or so of them.
Although a few times I have come close to the 500.

Yeah, I think ive got 500 until 12/31/05 for my cost, and 250 a month
after that. Usually i stock up less than 70 per month, because all I
really do is sign on, get auto logged off, sign back on. Its more of
a 'if im out, you can get me on this' kind of thing.
It *was* very useful when we were on vacation in Orlando and I needed
to IM someone to find me dialup numbers to my ISP down there.
