How to turn a notepad in to a .cfg

hello, i accediently set my defalt to notepad for .cfg files and i don't know how to set it so they are normal with no picture on the file just look like a blnk sheet of paper again. plz help!

well im trying to make a gmod dedicated server i need it to turn back because it isn't reading it

Cfg files are generally just plain text files for storing settings, changing the default application that opens them should have no effect on any programs that use them.

depends on your o.s.
saying as you didnt give it.
you can google "remove file association (o.s.name)" and select 1 of the first 10 results.
