Why isnt my empire total war working?

I just baught empire total war and napoleon total war game of the year edition. I installed it fine but when i went to play it the whole screen went pink but i could still hear the sound of the games opening vidios. when i got to the main menu the back round was still pink and the was nothing for me to choose from e.g single player or grand campain. please help!


p.s. my names Dan and i bought the game in a store.
