These images were taken with FRAPS and my monitor resolution was 1280x1024, the pictures were resized to 600x480.

I can only see small difference between the three settings like the lighting and some shadows.

Are there any big noticable differences in picture quality(considering not only the examples above but also in your own gaming experience in Crysis 2 if you have played it) between the settings that can justify framerate loss?

Thats because the difference between consoles graphics setting is:

crap
crappy
crappier

So no, there is no real difference because this game was made for the consoles and ported to the PC. The good news is that if you can play it on the lowest setting with your PC, you are missing almost nothing from the highest setting.

as trialsking says, there is little difference mainly because its dx9.c most entry level cards sold today can handle dx9 with power to spare.
the reason for this is when you look at todays low end dx10/11 cards they are more powerfull than the top of the range dx9 cards the gtx 7950 and the 1950xtx would match up to a gts 430 or hd3650 pretty astonishing considering only 3 years ago cards like the 7950 cost 300+ but today the 430 costs 50-60 pound 75-90 usd
things will change though, as crytec are releasing a dx11 patch so the differences will be more pronounced with any luck.
