i put together my new computer today with a Gigabyte 7ZX motherboard, Athlon 1gig and 256mb PC133 Hyundai RAM. Everything seems to be in place but when I turn it on (everything powers up, HDD, CD etc), but the display isn't initialized and it sits there doing nothing. Does this inidicate anything specific? ie has the ram gone, or the cpu or is it that the motherboard stuffed (maybe bios)?

Cpu fan is going and NO I can't smell anything burning. :)

Are you getting a POST (beeps) at all when it powers up? Check again to make sure the RAM is in bank 1 and the ide cables are pin1 to pin1, though I would think you'd get at least a video boot and then an error code with either of these. My money's on the ram or maybe bad bios chip.

What power supply are you using?
Are you getting a POST error code or any beeps at all?
Can you easily return it and try another board?

Shooting in the dark here... I'll give it a try anyway.
