NVidia as a motherboard chipset manufacturer

A while ago I read on various places that NVidia intended to get into the motherboard chipset manufacturing business. Does any one know anything about this? Are they still going to do it?

NVidia also seems to have a very strong relationship with Intel with the XBox and the way their drivers are Intel optimised. Do you think they would only be making Intel chipsets or will we finally get an AMD chipset with very good memory efficiency?

TIA

  1. Yeah I think it's gonna be called "Crush". It will be for AMD CPU's with DDR support and Integrated GeForce2 MX Graphics, That's all I know.

  3. yikes I dunno if i like the sound of the integrated geforce2 mx, I just bought my MX card and I dunno how id feel hearing of integrated into a motherboard, doesnt that usually mean its outdated?

    System:
    Duron 800 OC 875
    FIC AZ11E
    256meg PC133 Viking
    ASUS V7100/2vid Geforce2 MX
  4. "doesnt that usually mean its outdated"

In the past yes. As long as you don't want high resolutions and 32bit colour an MX is the best choice. Good thing NVidia isn't trying to use those TNT64 things! Any one know what PC2800 is? Is it just 160MHz RAM at DDR? Is it still 184 pins?
