Oblivion problems on pc

I just installed Oblivion to my laptop. I go through the tutorial and right after the Emperor dies, I am asked to choose a class and as soon as that pops up the game starts making a strange sound (sort of like static) and I cannot click on anything. However, I can move my mouse and go to my options, but that's all I can do. I have reinstalled twice but that did not help. Has anyone else had this problem or anyone have a solution?

Have you updated your video drivers and patched Oblivion?

I have not. And honestly, I'm not sure how to do that.

acer aspire is the make, there should also be a model number such as 5100, 5315, 4520, etc.,

more then likely your laptop has integrated graphics that are just too low but i would also download any patches on the Oblivion site for the PC game.

I cannot find the model number. But I've already gotten the patch and it didn't help. Would a video/graphics card help?

you wont be able to upgrade your laptop unless its very high end. anything under £1000 or $1400 is considered disposable as far as laptops are concerned. sorry.

you could try turning the game options down to minimum and see what happens. if that fails to do anything you should consider the game incompatible with your lappy.
