Hi folks,

I'm currently running win98, using it just for games. To avoid the occasionally crashing *g* (I love being backed-up with Linux, so crashs don't really bother me), switching over to Win2k would be a good idea... Only - how is the game performance affected - increase or loss? Im asking this as my HW is far from high performing. Any thougts/expieriences?

Thanks, IceDragon

P.S. My sys: 600Mhz classic Athlon, ASUS K7V (on board sound), 256 MB RAM, Radeon 32MB DDR

You might experience some loss in performance. Also, some games will not run on the NT engine.

It depends on the game. Win2k OpenGL is usually just as fast as d3d on win98. Anything that runs on software render will get better rates under win2k and NTFS. If you have Linux already, it's probably not worth running win2k.

Here's the games that will run under win2k. Some of them are listed, but will work depending on the machine.

thanks guys for the opinions, I've figured out about the same over WE - so I'll keep my Linux/Win98 config :)
