How do I get sims 2 carpools back?

Soo soo,
I have been playing the sims 2 for quite a while now but I have never encountered this problem before. I had a couple who both had jobs, Matthew and Lexy. Their carpools arrived on different days but one day, just before Lexy's was about to arrive an error appeared saying that it couldn't arrive. It gave me three options to choose from Cancel, Reset and Delete. Only delete worked and so the carpool never arrived. Then this happened with every thing which was meant to arrive at the house, the school buys etc.
I can't let my sims miss out on the education they need and the jobs are essential for the experience of the sims. If they were to run out of money I would be devastated not to mention the stress for my sims, myself and my family. It concerns me greatly that my sims may miss out on having a normal and happy life. I don't want to use motherlode because this could stop the sims from realising the value of momey.
Please could someone help me! I can't deal with this anymore.

Did you try reinstalling the game ? Do you have any other expansions installed for Sims 2?
