I plan to build a 1.2ghz T-Bird with 256 mo pc2100. Is the ASUS A7A-266 a good choice? Or is there better on the horizon??

Well, first of all I'd suggest you read this article from Anandtech URL: http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=1448, reviewing Asus's A7V133 A7M266 and A7A266. And, I cannot recommend the Magik Chipset to anyone. I'd get the A7M266 because the AMD 760 has supurior memory performance.

Also the Via kt266 may end up bein the chip to get, MSI has a board shipping with this chipset and the performance looks good but I have not seen sufficient testing to prove that the one I did see was accurate.

I've been hunting for the right mobo too.
I crossed the A7A266 off my list because it only has 2 DDR slots. All other ALIMAGik 1 boards have 3.

Here are a couple reviews of the board:

second that ajwr_2000 also cant recommend the kt266 chipset yet the two recent reviews (THG, and anandtech) are showing that this chipset is not ready for the lime light.
