as you might notice, verizon wireless's website shows V710 is out of
stock. I happen to visit one of their offices here on east coast
because i want to get another V710, then they told me that they do not
sell V710 at the moment because an issue with the camera.

The sales told me it is a recall, the manager did not use the term
recall. However, he told me to bring in mine for an exchange when
they have it back in stock. There is no ETA.

Why do I want to post this here? Because there is no news about this
issue whatsoever and we customers sometimes are short-changed by the
carrier(s). If I didn't visit the verizon office today, I wouldn't
have known anything about the "out of stock" or recall. And I would
have lost an opportunity to exchange a new one in hope the camera
issue is fixed.

Well, this cellphone is a very interesting commodity these days.
Information/competition about it sometimes are very "inefficient". If
you compare cellphone to automobile, you might understand better what
I am talking about here.

Anyway, if you got yours recently, please check to see if you can
exchange it.

maybe this is the Bluetooth fix/firmware upgrade and Verizon is not
jumping to admit they screwed it up originally.

Automobile -$20,000 and up--- Recall can keep people from dying
Wireless Phone $100-$500---- Recall means you can get sharper pictures or
Bluetooth capability

Please, explain the similarities to us.

What I am saying is that it is more difficult for the auto makers to
hide the defects, while we consumers have little influence to wireless
carriers when it comes to a quality issue.

If I didn't make it clear about why I compare cellphone to cars, now
you see why.

If you are not a V710 owner, you probably wouldn't care much about the
"recall"/out of stock, while paying more attention to the rest, or
simply look for a debate or something. Well, as of a few minutes ago,
the recall problem still stands.
