I was wondering if this will actually work... A 266 fsb cpu on a mother board that supports 200... Or on a motherboard that supports 266 fsb but with the external speed set to 100mhz. Would this work, or would there be side effects. My inclination is to believe it would just be slower... Like underclocking?

Yes you can except you still would need to close the L1 Bridges on the CPU sp ypu could change the multiplier. Why? Because by default lets say a 1GHz Athlon-C is going to use a multiplier of x7.5, and if you just set the External speed the CPU would be under clocked to 750MHz, so to change this you close the L1 bridges and then with a 100MHz FSB, set the multiplier to x10 to get 1GHz. I hope this helps.
