What does this mean, "This marvelous mainboard features support for Stepless Frequency Selection, a new technology which allows CPU frequency setting to be set in 1MHz-increments ..."? Taken right out of the description for the A7M266. I just got a 1GHz Athlon-C, and I want to oc it!!! Asus says I can, my chip should handle it, but my board doesn't support it?????!!??!?!!?!!! This is an outrage!!

It should be supported in BIOS, by setting it to manual configuration in BIOS, that's how Asus likes to do things.

It should, but it doesn't. No support for setting up your own cpu frequency.

They are reffering to the front side bus (FSB) which will change the cpu core speed, also this board does not have cpu multiplier control

The "why" of it is beyond me. If not for that, I would have bought it long ago!

Is there any other way to adjust the cpu frequency without changing the FSB? Like closing/opening some of the bridges on the chip itself?

yup it's on tom's site somewhere in the archives. Besides I think you can get a switch box to solder on to the A7M266, so that you can switch the multiplier.

Sorry about that, I thought you knew that you were supposed to be overclocking using bus speed on these newer boards.

on the rev1.01 of this board, you can adjust the multiplier with the provided 4 dip switchbox. on the rev1.03, this switchbox has been removed. best i can say is that you have to check with the person you buy from beforehand and request the old revision, that worked for me. with the newer one, the only OC option you have is the FSB... sorry, dude...

Well, that, and changing the clock multiplier on the chip itself by modifying the bridges.
