I've got an A7V mobo and a 1 GHz. Athlon. My friend has the exact same board and he has good success getting at least some overclocking by raising the FSB. My board on the other hand pukes at ANYTHING over 100 MHz. FSB. Anybody know a reason this board doesn't like higher FSB speeds? I've tried slowing the memory to 100 MHz, but still doesn't help. BTW, it's not the chip... I just unlocked it with a pencil and it runs nicely at 1.2 GHz. at standard voltage!

Here's the setup
Asus A7V with 1006 BIOS
Athlon 1 GHz. processor AVFAR fabbed week 02 of 2001
256 meg Generic PC133 RAM (Infinion chips)normally at CAS2, but I have tried CAS3)
Win98SE
Voodoo3 2000 with latest drivers
Via 4.29 4 in 1 drivers
Sound blaster 128 sound card
Netgear 10/100 Network card
USRobotics winmodem
CDROM
DVD
Internal Zip 100

maybe one of your pci cards is causing the problem. Try removing your cards one by one and raising the fsb. or try setting it to cas3 3-3-3 or 3-2-2.

I have the same problem. I can get 101 MHz out of the board, but that's about it. I'm running a Tbird 900 at 1060 (10.5 x 101), but the system crashes more often than a blind driver even at 10.5 x 100 = 1050. It's not a big deal though, I'm happy with where I am, and I'll probably sell the system to a friend come September. Hopefully go for a DDR Palomino then :^)

I think you're right... Sounds like I need one of the new 133 MHz. chipsets! It's still bugs me that my friend can get as high as 120 MHz. FSB on his board and I can't... Oh well, I've been reading about those ABIT boards and what is it, their KT7E board? Supposed to be 100 MHz, but runs fine at 133? Sounds like it might be offered at a good price! HeHe... alway somethin' for nothin'... right?

That'd be the Abit KT7A. It runs at 133 guaranteed. If you want to stay with Asus though, you can go for the A7V133.
