I just fixed my friends computer but sometimes it doesnt boot at all and just gives me a beep, silnce, beep, silence... so forth... I was wondering if anybody knew how I could stop it from beeping and hanging when I boot up. Sometimes like 1 out of 3 tries it boots up without a beep. Its an old amd motherboard with a K6 333 processor. everything on it is realy old...

Award or AMI BIOS?

System memory or video are the obvious candidates.

More info please!

Try removing and re-inserting the memory and the processor. (carefully, of course)

Check the Mobo manual and make sure the jumper settings are for that particular processor. The voltage must be right and the clock speed must be right. (You're not trying to overclock, are you?) If they are way out of whack for a 333, it may give you those beeps. The proper voltage for a 333 is 2.2V
