ASUS CUSL2-C will Not Shut Down...!

This system has error after error....

The System:
your CUSL2-C
an Intel pIII-1000mhz {retail boxed cpu}
256megs of pc133 SDram
Hercules 3d Prophet II mx AGP
Creative Labs Live Platinum 5.1
IBM 60.1gig ATA100 7200rpm Hard Drive
Windows98 Second Edition

The Errors:
1. After booting to Windows, with Nothing being loaded
on startup, an hour glass (working in background)
stays on for 10seconds, after the
HDD has stopped loading Windows98se...????

2. The system Will Not shut down at ALL...!
3. The system Will Not restart at ALL...!

All of ASUS drivers are installed and set without IRQ or DMA errors...!
The win98 shutdown patch has also been installed...


I have narrowed down these errors a little...
1. When I remove the Sound Blaster Live 5.1, the system
will Restart Only...!
2. The system still Will Not power off

All sit and freeze at the "Shutting Down Windows" screen...

Assistance in this matter is required...

Did you install the intel inf files before you installed your sound and video card drivers? The inf files have to be installed first in win98se (get them from www.intel.com). You won't need them if you are loading winMe. Secondly, try disabling both "LoadPowerProfile" under Program Files\Accessories\System Tools\System Information\Tools\System Configuration Utility\Startup. Also make sure your bios settings are correct. Onboard sound, joystick, etc are disabled.
