Bad Company 2 doesn't start

Hi, I installed the game, chose online authorization instead of using the disk. I tried to launch the game after installing and updating the version and it said:
"There is a problem connecting to the server. Please ensure your internet connection is active. If the problem persists try again later."
So I tried to launch the game again and it asked me to enter my serial key. I entered it, pressed done. Nothing happened. I tried launching the game again, without any dialog box but nothing happened either.
Any help would be appreciated.

launch the game from the updater but run it as administrator.
it should just ask you to sign in...
