More Information

OK, bear with me, because I am very, very bad with laptops, not to mention I cant get around to well on a desk top.
Fixing (cough) a compaq presiao 700z which is all boggered up from to many kids. Fixed a desktop from the same family, which had 2 viruses,4trojans, and over 900 items of spyware and malware, not to mention enough APPs starting at boot to run a small country. So you can see what I am up against.
1st, when I get into the BIOS (Phoenix), it only has 3 tabs, Main-Boot-Exit. No advanced or Power,,, no PCI Configuration etc... Is that normal on a laptop?
There is 2 NIC's. a onboard and a 802 docked to the side. I want to use the onboard so I can run a ethernet cable directly to it, not use the wifi. But I am not getting a connection. And I thought maybe since it was onboard, it may be disabled in the BIOS. In device manager it shows OK. Nor, do I see any other obvious problems with it.
Anything to help me get this online would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
B

peace be with you

CE industry growth set to decline despite bright spots, says iSuppli

Published on April 21, 2006

While the consumer electronics industry worldwide is still poised for growth, industry analyst iSuppli says its rate of growth will slow to the single digits for 2006.
