Since most of the newer peripheric now use USB, This can help
freeing IRQ by disabling the 2 COM ports (wich are no longer
useful with the use of internal modem and PS/2 mouses. And with
new USB printer, wich can do the job for most of us, you can have
another IRQ free by disabling the parralel port.

May be I am wrong, but for personal use, I am seeing more and more
system that have these connector free since the scanner and printer
are connected to the USB bus..same for the newer joystick that use
USB too, leaving the joystick port free too.

->And this is...................ACTION!

Disabling unused legacy ports works great for freeing up IRQs. At the very least disable COM2

It's like a light bulb, if you aren't using it, turn it off. Irq management is one greatest strengths of USB devices. Too bad usb is already obsolete -- it's all firewire, baby.
