i have my old PC, with a 17 inch CRT monitor.

can I pair the PS2 with the CRT monitor? ( LG 700E max resolution 1280x1024)
if yes, then how?

yes you can. how depends on which ports does you monitor have. I'm assuming only VGA so you'll have to find and buy and adapter for PS2 to VGA. You'll also need speakers separately if the monitor doesn't have them.

there's adapters available (3rd party) that will split the PS2 output into audio jacks that you can connect to some sound system/speakers and video jack of your choice (sounds like you need S-video for you monitor)

basically you want something like this
