Anybody here own a Liteon CD-RW drive?
If so, can you tell me what the front looks like, or know of any links to good pics?
What i really want to know is if there is any destinguishing features/writing on the front facia that seperates the models. Like the drive speed numbers or other words.

Tah thanx.

This is almost hilarious.

I just pulled off some stickers tonite, and found that a few of my devices are "relabeled".

Makes you wonder.

You *should* be able to look on the sticker on the top of the drive, and find the model number off of that.

You can use Clonecd or Nero to pull up the model number, and firmware revision number.

Sisoft Sandra will also report the model number, but I do not believe it will do the firmware for you.

Thinking about overlocking/reflashing it?

as stated the sticker on top of the internal part of the housing has a model number.. the convention runs like this 40125S where 40 = write speed, 12 = the rewrite 5 = the mediatek chip revision and S or W denote the intended market.. now for overclocking for instance a 48125s won't over clock to the new 52x firmware because the 52x is a 52246S(or w) and no one has hacked the firmware yet to make the 5 chip into a 6 chip ( my 32123s was made into a 40125s after someone hacked the regular 42125s firmware) several rebadged memorex, tdk's cendynes and others retain this nomenclature as part of their model numbers and preceed the numbers with "LTR"

The reason why i asked is that ive found a place that sells the 48x24x48x drive that i want, AND additional black facias.
But the facia's are a general one, for all recent liteons, so i wont get the drive speed displayed if i put on the black facia.
Boogers.

But then you can't lie about the actual speed and tell them your 4x burner does 48x.

And did you bought them?

Eventually svollie... I was planning to get them, depending on how well the current EMTEC 700mb 1-16x certified ones went. As it turned out, they could handle 48x well, so ill use em all up before getting the 48x rated ones.
