I installed DirectCD (part of version 4.01) on a Win2K box and now when I start the machine the services go crazy and I cannot get anything to run. The services and DirectCD service take up 100% of the CPU's time.

Anyone run into a similar problem and figured out how to fix it? I am going to try the recovery console in Win2K to rename the directCD executable so it won't start, but I am also afraid that one of the services has been messed up.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks

brian

Not sure about the problem you're having, but 4.01 has quite a few problems. The 4.03 update fixes a lot.

Personally I think DirectCD is a pile of....

I just use EasyCD Creator, patched to 403b so it works with newer CDRWs

I really do not like DCD. It prevents me from putting the computer to sleep. Bah. I just write CDs not rewrite since then.

4.02 was the first version to officially support Win2k. If you check adaptec's sight they have a good list of what versions work with what. One time installed the old 3.x version of Direct CD on my 2k box. Got a nice blue screen at boot every time. Ended up having to reload the system.
