so I'd been happy with verizon service in Denver, and when visiting
family in NM, and everywhere basically.

But I moved to a new house and for whatever reason, could only get 1
bar max. Center of Denver that is, so had to be problem with tower
placement. Grilfriend's Sprint service was 4 bars always.

Called Verizon and asked if they'd send new test phone, before I
cancel. Also asked if they'd let me purchase new phone, at the
discount rate. My friend would usually get 2 bars in my house with his
Verizon phone, and that was almost acceptable. I needed any reason to
stay with them.

They said, no no no, and I'll have to pay the $175 early termination
fee. So I had no choice and switched to Sprint.

2 weeks after switchover I get offer in mail saying "switch back and
we'll send you free phone (or discounted) can't remember".

Stupid morons may have saved a customer had they done this when I
asked!

Your girlfriend mentioned that to me too...that you used to be able to get 4
bars up but lately can only get one.

Ever since that started, she's been coming round to my place a few
afternoons a week while you're at work;-)

Edw.

Bars mean nothing. Were you able to make and receive calls with your
bars? That means something.

The offer said "Switch back and we'll send you free phone (or
discounted) can't remember"? That sounds sketchy.

I'm guessing you wanted a certain phone free / discounted, and this
offer was for a VERY basic low end phone.

I have been able to make & receive calls in Kansas with the Verizon banner
or extended network banner (roaming on Alltel) showing and no bars on my LG
VX4400.
