What is a good simple low-frils phone to recommend a friend who's
looking to upgrade? (he's already on VZW and he's eligible for New
Every 2 in about a month)
We tried to find the Moto V60s, but it appears VZW no longer carries
it. (I have the phone, works rather well)
He doesn't want cameras, color screens or web access. Just a good
quality phone for placing and receiving calls that is a flip phone (he
currently has a Moto v120e but wants a flip this time). A speakerphone
would be a plus but not required.
So of the phones VZW offers, what's a simple tri-mode (800
analog-CDMA/1900 CDMA) phone without the whistles and bells and works
well for voice calls, even in fringe signal areas.

I agree. The V60 is a really neat phone. If you can still get one. If not
check eBay.

That doesn't help him. He wants to get a V60s via the "New Every Two"
plan.

Has he sent customer service an e-mail to see if the v60s is available
*anywhere* in the VZW system? What about Radio Shack: Could he work a deal
to get one through them using the NE2 plan?
Bottom line: If the v60s is the best phone for his needs, then--if
necessary--he should be willing to spend about $100 to get one, rather than
worrying too much about the NE2 gimmick.
