I was playing with my mobo (a MSI turbo-r) a couple of days ago and i accidently left the CMOS jumper to clear data and i boot the PC. The pc wouldnt post (i was oc and i thought it was because of that). I switched off and then tried to boot again but no bleeps, no fans, no lights. It is like i have it unplugged. The manual said that if i powered the pc with the CMOS at clear it would damage my mobo. Damaged mobos cause everything to die? Wouldnt some fans that are connected to the power and not the mobo work? I have an extra suppler at home, should i try to see if the old is is burned or it is a waste of time?

Also if i try to replace it as a defective mobo the techs will find that i destroyed it or they will see nothing and think its indeed a defective piece?

if the shop or distributor troubleshoots the board it will show that it was last overclocked, and will also show what the settings were.
Some shops will just throw the board into the box with the 20 other boards it claims warranty on each month,...some will actually have it tested / repaired.
This sounds like a similar problem experienced with an A7V133, the shop just changed it for me.
I think in my case, a re-flashed BIOS may have fixed it ..but it was only a few days old..why bother...
dont tell me you also have a 686B VIA chipset ????

Actually no, because the ATX power supply has to get the proper signalling or else it won't power up at all.

fair question, i have never done it, but my supplier mentioned something about taking out the bios eeprom chip, and either putting it into another mobo where you flash it, or in a specialist service agent ,they probably have a stand alone eeprom burner, especially if they get alot of these...in my case it was a A7V133, what was your mobo?
really though, i would leave it up to the shop..not something i am certain enough to do myself, perhaps the moderator could help here please ? , i dont want to lead you astray.
