Will the new AMD cpu with the palomino core be supported by the socket A platform? Will it require a new type of motherboard to support the chip?

Hi does that mean with my K7 Master I can just stick a Palomino straight in if I decide I no longer want my Athlon 1.33C ?

Thanks in advance.

Truth is, is that nobody knows. AMD hasnt confirmed or denied it. Me, I would be suprised if Palomino ,err... Athlon 4 lol, is able to run on current Athlon motherboards.

i guess it will, as it is, the board right now supports a range of voltages and multipliers, and Palomino is just a newer breed of Athlon.

Not like P4 Northwood that will be a lot different the original P4, or Pentium-100 that had more pins than Pentium-90.

<<pvsurfer's brief reply is essentially correct>>

Most, if not all, KT133A and DDR mobos are capable of supporting Palomino. However, a BIOS upgrade may be necessary (depending on your specific mobo/bios).
