Comp freezes while gaming

it always tends too freeze when i play warcraft frozen throne or maplestory. freezes that i cant even move the mouse or anything.
for warcraft frozen throne it only freezes when a game starts only

currently running windows 7
Processor : AMD athlon(tm) 64 processor 3800+ 2.40Ghz
1.5 gigs of Ram
NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT

im a novice at computers so is there any solutions to fix this problem?

1,5 gigs of ram... what kind of ram, what speed and what latency..

your running win 7. did you set hpet mode in bios. you need to set the high precision event timer to maych your o.s . set to 32 for 32bit and 64 for 64bit. if you dont you will lock up.
if your ram is too different in speed and latency the mmu may have to work to hard. get warm and quit causing a lockup. make sure your ram is running as close to the jdec as possible. if the spd is off by to much you will cause instability.
if the ram for instance is ddr2 800 4-4-4-12 and you have another stick of ddr2 but its 667 running at 5-8-7-18 the mmu will be forced to run all the ram at 667 and mix and match the latency if it cant make the ram stable it can either damage the ram or the mmu.

Your ram is too low. Is it ddr1 or ddr2? You need 2gb for Window 7 to work properly.

if your laying anything new in the way of games get a 4gb ram and a dual core CPU in there. then think of the graphics card.
